Welcome to the first blog of the CSI: Rombalds Project!

The CSI Team are now busy preparing for the project launch event, which will be held in Ilkley on 6th November. In the morning,  the team plus invited experts will present an introduction to British rock art, and talk about the way it is recorded and managed. They will explain the aims and objectives of the CSI: Rombalds Project and outline the kinds of roles volunteers will be invited to play, from taking measurements, drawing, and writing descriptions of rock art panels in the field, to photography, photogrammetry, image processing, and data entry. After lunch there will be a guided walk to visit some nearby rock art.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved will be asked to apply via a form which will be available at the event or from Gavin Edwards at

More details of the launch event to follow!
